421 new development contracts were signed across New York City in August 2021 an increase of 109% from 2020 and 88% from 2019. There was also a 16% gain in new development contracts from July 2021 as the market momentum continued. The most active projects in Manhattan were: the Lantern House in West Chelsea designed by Thomas Heatherwick; and 130 William in the Financial District designed by David Adjaye. [The Real Deal]
For the last seven days through Sunday August 29, there were nine contracts signed for townhouses in Manhattan. So far in 2021, there have been 146 contracts signed for townhouses approaching the 2014 record of 153 contracts. [Mansion Global]
In the seven days through Sunday August 15, there were 33 contracts signed in Manhattan for residences priced for $4 million and above. Of those luxury contracts 79% or 26 were condos, 4 were townhouses and 3 were co-ops. During the prior week condos accounted for 75% of luxury contracts.
